1. Welcome to GarageMaster

GarageMaster helps you keep your entire vehicle history in one place — beautifully organized and securely stored in the cloud. Whether you own a single project car or a growing collection, GarageMaster gives you the clarity and confidence to stay on top of every detail.

This guide walks you through all current features so you can get the most from your account.

What’s New in Builds 99–111

  • Seven-day Pro trial — eligible customers can start a seven-day free trial from the new native subscription paywall, with the localized monthly renewal price and automatic-renewal terms shown before purchase.
  • Accurate store eligibility — Apple or Google determines whether the current store account qualifies. Customers who are ineligible, or whose eligibility cannot be confirmed, see normal paid subscription terms instead of a trial promise.
  • Improved subscription updates — purchase, cancellation, renewal, expiration, and restore status synchronize more accurately with Account and GarageMaster feature access.
  • Dual paywall options — the native trial-aware paywall remains available alongside the RevenueCat-managed paywall, which provides selectable Monthly and Yearly Pro plans, localized prices, a Best Value annual option, Restore Purchases, legal links, and a close control.
  • Production paywall rollout — Build 111 makes both paywall options available for public-distribution observation with real production store accounts. Apple or Google remains the authority for pricing, purchase confirmation, and introductory-trial eligibility.
  • Paywall fallback and monitoring — the native paywall remains the fallback if the managed Offering is unavailable, while purchase, restore, entitlement, cancellation, renewal, expiration, and trial behavior are monitored during the rollout.
  • Custom navigation instructions — route owners can edit or delete instruction cards after finalizing a route, including the spoken/written instruction, road name, and turn icon.
  • Consistent customized guidance — owner-edited instructions carry through Route Summary, Follow in GarageMaster voice guidance, full-screen instructions, PDF export, and JSON export.

What’s New in Builds 85–98

  • Power Planner and instruction reliability — road-shaped Start, Via, and Finish segments remain authoritative, persisted Via points influence recalculation, and long-route instructions cover the complete journey across Route Summary, Follow in GarageMaster, PDF, and JSON.
  • Reliable new-user setup — onboarding progress resumes after interruption, active group membership is verified before completion, and loading or save failures provide clear retry controls.
  • Safer group-join notifications — onboarding group joins reliably alert the relevant owner or administrator without creating duplicate alerts during retries.
  • Android Google Sign-In update — the current Google authentication flow improves sign-in stability on affected Android devices, including Android 11 OnePlus and Huawei models.
  • Improved GPX import — named GPX waypoints are retained as custom route POIs, while usable route points remain separate from dense track geometry.
  • Reliable dense-route processing — very large route geometry is bounded for navigation processing without discarding the full displayed route.
  • Repair navigation — routes with missing navigation steps or a previous processing error can be repaired from Edit Route without losing their route, Via points, or POIs.
  • Route location accuracy — route cards now show the closest town and country from the route Start point instead of the route creator’s profile location.
  • Public route creation — route owners can now enable Make Public while creating a route. Routes remain private by default, and public visibility is separate from group sharing.
  • Safer Follow Route startup — when the route start is more than 100 km from your first usable GPS position, GarageMaster explains the situation and offers external navigation to the route start instead of beginning an impractical lead-in route.
  • Green route start flag — the route Start marker is now a flag pole with a solid green flag, matching the checkered flag pole used for the Finish marker. Start and finish endpoints are now visually paired across Route Summary, Follow Route, Create Route, Edit Route, and the Route Editor.
  • Navigation preferences and guidance — choose map style and terrain, keep altitude/compass/speedometer/street-name overlays visible, show destination distance and time, configure route trails and camera behavior, and choose what happens when guidance returns you to the route.
  • Record Navigation and completed drives — Pro+ users can record a drive, associate it with a vehicle and folder, replay it with speed or altitude charts, scrub through the route, and review personal Driving Stats and Completed Drives history.
  • Map-first Routes discovery — Routes opens with Drive, Search, and Plan actions, visible-area search, radius filtering, grouped route-start markers, optional start flags, and a handoff to matching route results.
  • Public routes — route owners can publish routes for discovery, while independent search controls include Mine, Exclude Public, Recordings, and route-start flags.
  • Power Planner — the route editor now uses Start, Via, Finish, POI, Reverse, Undo, Redo, Search, and More controls, with persistent numbered Via points and road-following recalculation.
  • Locations & POIs — browse owned, managed, and public location streams, organise locations in folders, use custom localized icons, preview them on a map, and open them in Google Maps or Waze.
  • Route reviews and share links — signed-in users can leave one editable 1–5 star review with an optional comment, and stable route links open the correct route through Android App Links, iOS Universal Links, or a browser fallback.
  • GPX import — import .gpx files from the Planner using the system picker or Dropbox; GarageMaster road-processes the track, creates numbered Via points, and fits the imported route on the map.
  • Geometry and playback consistency — Route Summary, Full Screen Map, Follow Route, PDF, Map Pilot, previews, statistics, and history use the same road-shaped Planner geometry. Via recalculation shows a blocking progress indicator while it runs.

2. Getting Started

Sign In or Create an Account

GarageMaster supports three sign-in methods:

  • Email and password
  • Google
  • Apple (iOS only)

After sign-in, your garage data syncs automatically from cloud storage. You can also link multiple sign-in methods to the same account from Account Settings.

  • Accounts created with Google or Apple can add an email and password login for use on other devices
  • Accounts using email and password can change their password at any time from the Sign-in Methods area of Account Settings

New User Setup

New accounts are guided through adding a name and profile photo, then joining groups. On the Join Groups step, select at least one official GarageMasterApp group other than the automatically assigned default GarageMaster group. GarageMaster verifies that the selected membership is active before Finish Setup can complete.

  • Your progress is saved after the name and photo steps, so interrupted setup can resume from the correct page.
  • An 8-character Secret Join Code can submit a request to join a private group, but a pending request does not satisfy the active-group requirement.
  • If profile saving or group loading fails, use the displayed retry action instead of restarting account creation.
  • The relevant group owner or administrator receives one join alert after membership is created; retries do not create duplicate alerts.

Add Your First Car

Tap the + button inside your garage to create a car profile. You can always add or edit details later.

Navigation

The bottom navigation bar gives you quick access to the five main areas of the app:

  • Garage — your car profiles and build history
  • People — friends and social connections
  • Groups — community clubs and groups
  • Home — the social Feed Wall
  • More — account, reports, settings, and alerts

3. Managing Your Cars

Each car has a dedicated profile. You can store:

  • Make, model, badge, and option pack
  • Year, transmission, fuel type, and engine specs
  • Odometer reading (with last-updated timestamp)
  • Color and color code
  • VIN, registration, and registration authority
  • Acquisition date and ownership history
  • Hero photo and photo gallery
Tip: Set a hero photo for each car — it appears throughout the app and in your PDF reports.

4. Build History and Maintenance Records

Every event in your car’s life can be logged as a build history record — maintenance, repairs, upgrades, inspections, and milestones.

What You Can Add Per Record

  • Record type and category
  • Date and time
  • Description and notes
  • Tags
  • Cost
  • Provider/workshop name
  • Odometer at time of event
  • Photos and invoice attachments
  • Reminder date and time
  • Share to Groups — send the record to one or more of your groups (see Section 6)
  • Attach Route Map — link a saved map to event types that support it (see Section 10)

Single Record Actions

  • Edit all fields
  • Delete (moves to Recently Deleted — recoverable for 14 days)
  • Hide from PDF report
  • Dismiss reminder

Bulk Actions

Select multiple records to apply actions across your timeline at once:

  • Duplicate — copies records with a new date; costs and reminders are cleared
  • Move / Reclassify — changes the record type for selected entries
  • Delete — soft-deletes all selected records to Recently Deleted
  • Restore — recovers selected records from Recently Deleted
Fixed in v1.0.5 (included in v1.0.6): The History view now loads all records correctly when scrolling. Previously, pagination was stopping at 50 records. Legacy records that were missing from filtered views are also now displayed correctly.

5. Sharing Records with Providers

When logging a record, you can choose to share it with a service provider or workshop. The provider can then approve or reject the share.

Share States

  • Pending — share submitted, awaiting provider review
  • Approved — provider has confirmed the record
  • Rejected — provider has declined, with an optional moderation note
When you duplicate a record that was previously shared, it returns to Pending status.

6. Groups & Clubs

Groups let car enthusiasts connect around shared interests — marque clubs, track-day crews, workshop communities, and more. You can join existing groups or create your own.

Joining a Private Group with a Secret Code New

Private groups that have a Secret Join Code enabled can be joined directly without requiring a friendship with the group admin:

  • Tap the key icon (🔑) in the top bar of the Groups screen — this is available to all users including Free
  • Enter the 8-character code shared by the group admin and tap Send Join Request
  • A join request is sent to the group admin, who will approve or decline as usual
  • You will receive a notification when your request is approved

Generating a Secret Join Code (Owner / Admin)

  • Open the group’s Edit Group sheet — the Secret Join Code section appears only when visibility is set to Private
  • Tap Generate Code to create a unique 8-character code; tap Regenerate Code to invalidate the current code and create a new one
  • Tap the copy button next to the displayed code to copy it to the clipboard, then share it with invited participants
  • The code uses an unambiguous character set that avoids look-alike characters (no O/0, I/1, or L)

Joining a Group

  • Browse public groups from the Groups tab
  • Tap Request to Join on any group card
  • For Pro+ visibility groups, membership requires a Pro-tier subscription or above (Free users see an upgrade prompt when tapping Join)
  • The group owner or an admin will review and approve your request
  • You will receive a notification when your request is approved

Creating a Group

  • Tap the Create Group icon from the Groups tab
  • Creating and managing groups requires Pro tier or above; Free users can still see the icon and receive an upgrade prompt when they tap it
  • Set a name, description, and visibility (public, Pro+, or private)
  • Pro+ visibility is publicly discoverable but only joinable by Pro-tier-and-above members
  • You automatically become the group owner

Managing Your Group (Owner / Admin)

  • Review and approve or reject pending join requests from the group detail screen
  • Directly add friends as members using Add Friend to Group — the friend receives a notification immediately
  • For Pro+ groups, Add Member only lists friends with Pro-tier-or-above access
  • See the full live member list in the group detail screen
  • Existing group members are automatically excluded from the Add Member list, preventing duplicate adds
  • Promote members to admin, or remove members
  • When a member is promoted to admin, that member receives an alert notification
  • Deleting a group also removes pending join requests and prevents stale deleted-group join request entries from appearing in Groups

Sharing Records to Groups

When creating or editing a build history record, expand the Share to Groups section and select one or more of your groups. Once the record is saved:

  • The record appears in the Home Feed for all active members of those groups
  • Each group member receives a push notification: “[Your name] shared a [record type] in [Group Name]”
  • Editing the record and adding new groups will notify members of the newly added groups only — existing shares do not generate duplicate notifications
Privacy: Records shared to a group are visible only to active members of that group. Records shared to a private group remain private even if the group is later made public.

How Groups, Clubs and Routes Fit Together

Groups are also the key that unlocks shared routes. Each feature plays a distinct role:

  • Folders organise — a folder is a personal classification created by the route owner. It carries through to everyone who can see the owner’s routes, but it never grants access by itself.
  • Groups grant access — a route is visible to the members of the groups it is tagged to. Routes always follow groups for access availability, so joining a group is what puts its shared routes into your Routes list.
  • Clubs brand — clubs share routes through their groups (for example, a committee or events group). The club itself supplies the optional Club Banner, so the same club branding can appear on a route shared across several of the club’s groups.

Because access follows groups, one folder can look different to every viewer. If a route creator keeps 100 routes in a folder, you see only the routes tagged to groups you belong to — perhaps 10 or 60 of the 100 — and the folder’s totals count just those visible routes.

Public routes: route owners can mark a route Public for discovery by GarageMaster users. Use the Routes search controls to include or exclude public routes independently from your own and group-shared routes.

Group Notifications Summary

Event Who gets notified Alert message
Admin adds you directly You (the added member) “[Admin name] added you to [Group]”
Join request approved You (the requester) “[Admin name] approved your request to join [Group]”
Member shares a record to the group All other active group members “[Member name] shared [description] in [Group]”
Member promoted to admin The promoted member “[Owner/Admin name] promoted you to admin in [Group]”

7. Home Feed

The Home tab is your social feed — a live wall of build history records shared by people and groups in your network. Think of it as a Facebook-style timeline for car enthusiasts.

What Appears in Your Feed

  • Records shared by members of groups you belong to
  • Records shared by friends whose records are visible to you
  • Approved provider-shared records from providers you follow

Each post shows the author’s name and avatar, the date and record type, description, notes, and any attached photos.

Opening an Attached Route

When a shared history record or event includes a route, tap its Open Route: [route name] pill. GarageMaster opens the Route Summary directly, where you can review the route and choose its available navigation, sharing, and community actions.

Liking a Post

  • Tap the Like button below any post to react to it
  • Tap again to unlike
  • The live like count updates in real time for all viewers
  • Tap the likes count (e.g. “3 likes”) to see a “Liked by” list — the current user appears first when present

Commenting on a Post

  • Tap Comment to open the post detail screen
  • Type your comment in the text field at the bottom and tap Send
  • Comments appear in chronological order below the post
  • The live comment count updates in real time on the feed card

Tagging Friends in Comments New

  • Type @ in the comment box to see matching names from your accepted friends list
  • Tap a suggested friend to insert their name into the comment
  • Tagged names are highlighted in posted comments for easier visibility
  • When you tag a friend, GarageMaster automatically turns Follow on for that post for the tagged user

Following a Post

  • Use the bell icon on a feed post to manually follow or unfollow it
  • Liking a post or adding a comment also turns Follow on for you automatically
  • Tagged friends are also added as followers for that post
  • Use the ⋮ menu beside the bell to access post options; owners can edit their own history/map posts directly from the card

Liking a Comment

  • Inside the post detail screen, each comment has its own Like button and like count
  • Tap the like count on a comment to see who liked it — the current user appears first

Viewing Photos Full Screen

When a post contains photos, they appear as a scrollable horizontal strip of thumbnails.

  • Tap any thumbnail to open the photo full screen with pinch-to-zoom (up to 4×)
  • If the post has multiple photos, swipe left and right to move between them
  • A 1 / n counter in the top bar shows your position in the gallery
  • Tap the back button or swipe down to close

Navigating an Attached Route Map New

When a post includes an attached route map, a map badge is shown on the feed card. Tap the ⋮ menu on the badge to choose a navigation action:

  • Follow in GarageMaster — opens the in-app turn-by-turn route follower
  • Navigate to Start — chooses Google Maps or Waze, then navigates from your current location to the route start point
  • Navigate to Finish — chooses Google Maps or Waze, then navigates from your current location to the route finish point
  • Open in Google Maps — launches the full multi-point route in Google Maps (paid tiers)
  • Open in Waze — launches Waze navigation to the route destination (paid tiers)
Tip: All users (including Free) can use Follow in GarageMaster, Navigate to Start, and Navigate to Finish. Direct full-route Open in Google Maps and Open in Waze remain available for paid tiers.
Tip: The “Liked by” list always puts you at the top so you can quickly confirm your reaction is registered.

8. Photo Gallery

Each car includes a dedicated photo gallery. Organise your photos by category:

  • Exterior
  • Interior
  • Engine
  • Wheels
  • Documents
  • Other

Gallery photo limits depend on your subscription tier.

9. Alerts and Notifications

Maintenance Reminders

Set a reminder date and time on any build history record. GarageMaster sends a local notification when the reminder is due.

Reminder Categories

  • Due Today — reminders due on the current date
  • Upcoming — future reminders
  • Overdue — past reminders not yet dismissed

Social Notifications

Push notifications are sent for key social events. Tapping a social notification opens the relevant screen directly. In Build 31, social alerts are consumed when opened, and new-post alerts deep-link directly to the exact feed post.

Notification type When it fires Tapping opens
Friend request Someone sends you a friend request People screen
Group join request Someone requests to join your group Group detail screen
Added to group An admin adds you directly to a group Group detail screen
Join request approved Your join request is accepted by an admin Group detail screen
New post in group A member shares a record to a group you belong to Exact post in Home feed (post detail view)
Promoted to group admin An owner or admin promotes you inside a group Group detail screen
Direct message A user sends you an in-app message from the People screen Alerts screen (Messages section)
New comment on a followed post Someone adds a new comment to a post you follow Exact post in Home feed (post detail view)

Messages and Contact

GarageMaster includes simple in-app messaging through the Alerts screen.

  • From the People screen, open the 3-dot menu beside a connected friend and choose Send Message or Send Email
  • Messages are delivered as in-app social alerts and are grouped under a dedicated Messages section in Alerts
  • Open a received message to view a modal with Close, Mark done, and Reply actions
  • Choosing Mark done removes the message alert from the list
  • Choosing Reply sends a response and then removes the original message alert
  • Send Email opens your default mail app with the friend’s email address filled in and the subject line pre-populated
  • For most users, message and email actions are available only for connected friends
  • Users on the Admin tier can use these two actions for any user listed in People

System Alerts (Build 31)

  • Installed Version appears only when a newly installed app version is detected on the device
  • Scheduled Maintenance is now dynamic and managed via Firebase Remote Config
  • System alert cards can be dismissed with swipe gestures

Swipe-to-Dismiss

In Build 31, you can swipe left or right on alert cards to remove or dismiss them.

  • Social and message alerts: removed from your Alerts list
  • Reminder alerts: dismissed and removed from active reminder counts
  • System alerts: hidden after swipe (session behavior depends on alert type)
Important: Notifications must be enabled for GarageMaster in your phone settings. If Focus or Do Not Disturb is active, make sure GarageMaster is allowed through.

Notification Health Card

Open the Alerts screen and look for the Notification Health card. It shows the current permission status and lets you jump directly to system settings to fix any issues.

  • Notification Health status is automatically refreshed at app startup
  • This startup refresh does not send any user-facing alert notification
  • If you swipe-dismiss Notification Health, it remains hidden until the app is fully closed and reopened

10. Routes New

The Maps module lets you create, save, and share driving routes — perfect for rallies, track days, club runs, tours, and any other event where the journey matters as much as the destination.

Subscription requirement: Creating and managing route maps, route folders, and route PDF export require a Pro, Unlimited, Club, or Dealer subscription. Any user can navigate a map that has been attached to a shared post in the Home Feed, unless the route is marked Pro+ Only.

Exporting a Route as PDF

Subscription requirement: Route PDF export requires Pro tier or above. Free users can still see the export buttons and are shown an upgrade screen when they tap them.

Any map record can be exported as a formatted two-page PDF — ideal as a backup navigation aid for group drive participants who do not have the GarageMaster app.

  • Tap the ⋮ menu on any map in the list and choose Export route PDF
  • Page 1 — Driving Instructions: a table of all turn-by-turn steps, ordered as #, Next and From Start distances, turn arrow, instruction text, and road name. Distances display in kilometres or miles to match your Units setting. A download banner between the header and the table lets recipients scan QR codes to install GarageMaster on iPhone or Android. The banner uses the map’s selected PDF Banner if set, otherwise its Photo, if one has been added. If the map has Footer text, it appears after Route finishes in the table footer row.
  • Page 2 — Route Overview: a full-page map rendered from OpenStreetMap tiles at the appropriate zoom level, with the route drawn in blue and clear start/finish markers. Requires an internet connection; a vector route diagram is shown instead when offline.
  • The PDF is shared via the standard device share sheet and can be saved, printed, or sent as an email attachment

A companion Export route JSON option is also available in the same menu for technical review of the raw route data.

Tip: Generate the PDF before a group drive and share it in your club’s chat. Members without the app can print or save it to their phone as a backup navigation reference.

Accessing Maps

Open the Routes module from the main navigation menu or the bottom navigation bar. The map-first landing screen provides three primary actions: Drive for navigation, Search for route discovery, and Plan for creating a route.

Use Search this area to search the visible map, or choose a radius around the map center. Results can be handed off to the Routes list, where you can search by route name, description, groups, or folder. Radius values are converted between kilometres and miles according to your Units setting.

  • Map controls can show grouped route-start markers and optional route-start flags.
  • Routes and POIs have independent filter columns. Route POIs are off by default so they do not crowd route discovery.
  • Use independent Mine and Exclude Public controls, and filter route starts or recordings when those markers are relevant.

Creating a Route Map

  • Tap the Create Route button in the Routes top bar
  • Give the map a name, optional description, and optional Footer text (up to 80 characters) for the route PDF footer row
  • Choose the Visibility: Private (only me) keeps the route to yourself, while Groups only shares it with the groups you tick under Share with Groups — only members of the selected groups can access the route
  • Optionally enable Make Public to let GarageMaster users discover the route; leave it disabled to keep the route private or use group sharing only
  • Optionally assign a Folder and tick Pro+ Only to restrict access
  • Optionally pick a Banner source (Club: … or Group: …) — the selected banner appears at the top of the exported route PDF
  • Tap Plan to open Power Planner. Use Start, Via, and Finish to build a road-shaped route; use POI to add a point of interest without making it a route waypoint.
  • Use Reverse, Undo, Redo, Search, and the More menu as needed. Via points remain numbered and can be moved, inserted, or deleted.
  • Choose Import GPX from the Planner More menu to select a .gpx file from the system picker or Dropbox. Usable route points are road-processed, converted into a Start, numbered Vias, and Finish, then fitted to the map.
  • Named GPX <wpt> waypoints are imported as custom POIs. They do not become route Vias, and dense <trkpt> recording points are not used when a usable route-point list is present.
  • Large imported or saved route geometry is reduced only for the processing request when necessary; the full displayed route remains available in the Planner and map views.
  • During Via recalculation, a centered progress indicator blocks conflicting edits until the new road geometry is ready.
  • Save the map; it is stored to your account and available immediately

Build 98 Power Planner and Navigation Update New

  • Power Planner keeps each Start, Via, and Finish segment shaped along roads, with no straight-line fallback between Via points.
  • Saved Via points are included whenever navigation is recalculated, so they can force the route along the roads selected by the route creator rather than a shorter alternative.
  • The complete blue Planner route is the source of truth for navigation processing.
  • Long routes are processed in connected sections so instructions cover the entire journey, including the final section.
  • Route-shaping anchors preserve detailed turn, merge, roundabout, and U-turn commands suitable for visual and spoken navigation.
  • Route Summary, Follow in GarageMaster, PDF instructions, and route JSON use the recalculated instruction sequence from the same route geometry.
  • For an existing route, save or repair it once to regenerate instructions with Build 98 processing.

Customizing Navigation Instructions New

After the route shape and Via points are final, the route owner can correct, simplify, or personalize the instructions shown and spoken by GarageMaster.

  1. Open your route and scroll to Navigation Instructions in Route Summary.
  2. Tap the three-dot menu on the instruction card you want to change.
  3. Choose Edit instruction to change the turn icon, spoken and written instruction, or road name, then tap Save.
  4. Choose Delete instruction to remove an unnecessary instruction, then confirm the deletion.
  • Only the route owner or creator sees the Edit and Delete instruction controls.
  • Other users see and follow the owner’s customized instructions without being able to change them.
  • Editing an instruction does not move the route or its announcement point. Distances and route geometry remain unchanged.
  • Deleting an instruction removes it from Route Summary, GarageMaster navigation and voice guidance, the full-screen route, PDF export, and JSON export.
  • Reopening, sharing, exporting, navigating, or changing route details such as its description preserves custom instructions.
Customize only after planning is complete: Changing route geometry or Via points requires recalculation and replaces custom instructions with newly generated guidance. GarageMaster warns you first. Choose Cancel to preserve the current route and custom instructions, or Recalculate route to continue and reset them.
Voice guidance: Edited text is spoken by Follow in GarageMaster at the instruction’s original route location. It does not override directions independently generated by external apps such as Google Maps or Waze.

Editing and Deleting Maps

  • Edit and Delete are available only on routes you created — they no longer appear in the ⋮ menu on other members’ routes
  • Open the ⋮ menu on your own route and choose edit to change the name, description, folder, or route
  • If navigation steps are missing or route processing previously failed, open Edit Route and tap the Repair navigation tool in the top bar. Save the route when prompted and reopen it to confirm that navigation instructions have been regenerated.
  • Route cards show the closest town and country of the route Start. Older routes may need one Repair navigation action before this location is available.
  • Delete a map from the map detail screen — this also removes it from any records it was attached to

Route Folders New

Folders let you group routes so large collections stay manageable.

  • Choose a Folder when creating or editing a route; leave it as No folder to keep the route unfiled
  • Create a new folder or rename an existing one directly from the folder picker, without leaving the route form
  • Use the folder button in the Routes top bar to create and rename folders at any time
  • Renaming a folder updates every route in it automatically, because routes are linked to the folder itself rather than to its name
  • Creating and managing folders requires Pro tier or above; Free users are shown an upgrade screen

Browsing Routes by Folder New

  • Tap the Folders toggle above the search box to switch between the standard route list and the grouped folder view
  • Each folder header shows the folder owner, the combined distance of its routes, how many groups those routes are tagged to, and the number of routes
  • Tap a folder header to expand it and show its routes; tap again to collapse
  • Routes without a folder are collected under No folder at the end of the list
  • With Folders enabled, the search box searches folder names; with Folders disabled it searches routes as usual
  • You only ever see routes you already have access to, so a folder appears only when at least one of its routes is visible to you — and its totals reflect just those routes

Pro+ Only Routes New

  • When creating or editing a route, tick Pro+ Only to restrict who can open it
  • Pro+ Only routes stay visible in the Routes list and are marked with a PRO+ badge
  • Free users who open one are shown an upgrade screen explaining that a Pro subscription or better is required

How Folders, Groups and Clubs Work Together

Three features that look similar do very different jobs:

  • Folders organise your routes — a folder is your personal classification. It carries through to everyone who can see your routes, but it never grants access by itself.
  • Groups control who sees each route — access always follows groups. Tag a route to one or more of your groups and every member of those groups can see it; remove a tag and that group’s members lose access.
  • Clubs provide the branding — a club shares routes through its groups (for example, a committee group). Choosing the club as the route’s Banner source keeps the same club banner on a route shared across several of the club’s groups.

So if you keep 100 routes in one folder, each viewer sees only the routes tagged to groups they belong to — one member might see 10, another 60. You stay in full control of who sees what through the groups you tag on each route.

Public routes: route owners can mark a route Public for discovery. Public visibility is separate from group sharing; use the route visibility and search filters to control how it is found.

Attaching a Map to a Record

Route maps can be attached to the following event-type build history records:

  • Rally
  • Race
  • Sprint
  • Hillclimb
  • Tour
  • Club Run
  • Cruise

When creating or editing one of these record types, an Attach Map option appears. Select one of your saved maps to link it to the record. The map badge then appears on the record card and in any Home Feed post generated from that record.

Navigating a Route

Open a route to view its Route Summary, then choose the navigation action you need:

  • Follow in GarageMaster — opens the in-app route follower, which displays the route overlay and tracks your position along the polyline
  • Navigate to Start — choose Google Maps or Waze, then navigate from your current location to the route start point
  • Navigate to Finish — choose Google Maps or Waze, then navigate from your current location to the route finish point
  • Open in Google Maps — sends the full multi-point route to Google Maps for turn-by-turn navigation (paid tiers)
  • Open in Waze — launches Waze navigation to the route’s end destination (paid tiers)

On Home Feed posts, tap the Open Route pill to go straight to Route Summary. Route endpoints are identified by flags throughout the Routes experience — a green flag marks the start and a checkered flag marks the finish.

If your first usable GPS position is more than 100 km from the route start, GarageMaster does not begin a long lead-in route. Instead, it explains the distance and offers the existing Google Maps/Waze chooser so you can navigate to the route start first.

Follow in GarageMaster Behavior

  • Follow now preserves your pinch-selected zoom level during recentering.
  • Saved Follow zoom is remembered across sessions and synced to your profile.
  • Follow keeps your screen awake during active navigation by default.
  • Pro+ route creators can choose Stop navigation from the Follow Route overflow menu to pause automatic camera following while checking a route. Select Restart navigation to resume it.
  • Stopping camera following does not stop route tracking, off-route detection, distance calculations, voice cues, or route instructions.
  • Standard instructions use larger text and flow around the To Finish distance card for easier reading.
  • Satellite View is an Advanced Route Navigation feature for Pro tier and above. Free users see an upgrade prompt when selecting the layers icon.
  • You can change this in Settings > Navigation using Keep Screen On During Follow.
  • Default orientation for new users is Course Up (North Up is still available in settings), and your saved choice is now kept between sessions.
  • Course Up uses your live GPS travel course while moving and falls back to the bearing of the current route segment when you are stationary.
  • When a route is recalculated or guidance returns you to the route, the selected guide-back behavior is shown with a progress state and does not accept conflicting map edits until complete.

Navigation Settings Updated

Open Settings > Navigation to choose the behavior that should be used by Follow Route and related map screens. Preferences are saved to your account and localized with the rest of the app.

  • Choose Course Up or North Up, and select the available map style or terrain presentation.
  • Enable or disable the Altitude, Compass, Speedometer, and Street Name overlays.
  • Show destination distance and estimated time, and choose whether the driven route trail remains visible.
  • Choose the default camera mode, including overview and 3D presentation where available.
  • Configure guide-back behavior and use the manual Guide back to route action when you want to resume route guidance after stopping or exploring the map.

Recording a Navigation Session New

Pro+ users can record a live navigation session from Follow Route. A recording stores the driven track separately from the planned route and can be associated with a vehicle and folder.

  • Start navigation, open the recording action, and confirm the vehicle and optional folder.
  • Pause or stop the recording from the navigation controls. The completed drive is saved as a recording when you finish.
  • Open Recordings from the Routes area to filter and open saved sessions.
  • Use playback to scrub through the drive and view speed or altitude charts. Metric coloring helps identify changing values along the track.
  • Personal Driving Stats summarize your own recorded navigation activity. Completed Drives provides the lightweight history view for finished sessions.

Locations & POIs New

Open Locations & POIs from the main navigation to manage places independently from routes. The module separates your owned locations, locations managed for groups or clubs, and public locations available for discovery.

  • Browse locations in their relevant stream and organise them in folders.
  • Create or edit a location with a localized name, description, visibility, and custom POI icon.
  • Open the map preview to inspect the location and its distance or date metadata.
  • Use Open in Google Maps or Open in Waze for external navigation.
  • POI results and route results have separate filters. Route POIs are off by default and can be enabled when searching a visible map area.

Route Reviews and Share Links New

Route Summary includes the public route’s rating and review area when reviews are available.

  • Signed-in users can submit one 1–5 star review per route with an optional comment.
  • Edit or delete your own review from the review controls. The route displays the average rating and review count, with comments available to expand.
  • Use the route share action to copy or send the stable route link. Links use the /routes/{routeId} path and preserve the route’s existing access checks.
  • On supported devices, Android App Links and iOS Universal Links open the app directly. A browser fallback is provided when the app is not installed.

Legacy Route Conversion and Via Maintenance Updated

  • Use the legacy conversion action to create a duplicate before changing the original route. Existing navigation steps are recovered as numbered Via points where possible.
  • Confirm the converted route before saving. Legacy-only refresh tools apply to legacy routes and should not be used as maintenance for Power Planner routes.
  • In the Via editor, negative Via numbers mark points for deletion; saving removes them and automatically renumbers the remaining Vias.
  • Route owners can duplicate their own routes. Admin-tier users can override the ownership restriction; non-owner Pro+ users cannot duplicate another user’s route.
Tip: For club events, use Follow in GarageMaster for shared route context and live in-app flow. Use Navigate to Start or Navigate to Finish when you need fast handoff to Google Maps or Waze from your current position.

Report Styles

  • Full — comprehensive report with all sections
  • Classic — focused on classic registration context

  • Build history: filter by record type
  • Cost visibility (Pro and above)

Important Notes

  • Records marked Hide from Report are excluded
  • Free tier users can view and share a sample PDF
  • Full PDF export is available on Pro and Unlimited plans
  • Cost summaries in PDFs require an Unlimited plan

12. Club Membership Management New

Build 55 completes the first production-ready release of Club Membership Management under the CM workspace for authorized club admins and assigned membership managers. This module is designed for club-level operations and is scoped per club/provider.

Who Can Access CM

  • Admin tier users can access Club Membership Management.
  • Club+ users can access CM only when explicitly assigned as active membership admins for a club.
  • Membership data and actions are restricted to the currently selected assigned club context.

Modules Now Available (Build 55)

  • Categories – define and maintain membership category structures used by plans.
  • Plans – create, edit, archive, delete, and duplicate membership plans.
  • Members (Subscriptions) – create and manage member subscription records.
  • Custom Fields – define Adelaide Rotary Membership Component-style fields for member and subscription data capture.
  • Coupons – manage coupon codes with duplicate, publish, and delete actions.
  • Messages – maintain editable template records for emails and notifications.
  • Membership Admins – assign and manage users who can administer membership for a selected club.
  • Configuration – manage Lifecycle, ID & Profile, Account, Backend Ops, Invoicing, Export, Notifications, and API settings for the club membership component.

Operational Workflow Highlights

  • Plan duplication in the Plans module creates sequential names automatically (for example: Plan (1), Plan (2)).
  • Member subscription add/edit supports robust user name autocomplete with legacy fallback behavior.
  • Plan selection and labels were optimized for small screens to avoid overflow in the editor forms.
  • Membership admin editing resolves user names reliably with UID-safe fallback display.
  • Custom Fields editing supports Adelaide Rotary Membership Component-style field types, validation, and file/image attachment handling.
  • Messages editing allows HTML content and placeholder tags from custom fields, with synced default records and group filtering.
  • Drawer behavior now remembers the current workspace section so membership screens reopen directly on Club Memberships.

Subscription Lifecycle and Payment Fields

  • Subscription Start Date/Time
  • Subscription End Date/Time
  • Last Payment Date/Time
  • Payment Transaction ID

Renewal Reminders and Alerts

  • Renewal reminders are based on the subscription expiry date.
  • Plan settings control the first, second, and third reminder timing.
  • Reminder messages are maintained as template records under CM.
  • Reminder notifications are delivered to the phone for now, rather than email.
  • Admin users can run the reminder sweep manually and delete/reset a reminder if needed.

Payment Gateways and Diagnostics

  • Membership payments support both Stripe and PayPal.
  • Club Membership proceeds are collected directly into the configured club/provider Stripe or PayPal account.
  • Club/Provider payment profiles can be edited directly from the provider editor with private secret fields kept outside the public profile surface.
  • Gateway editors now show inline readiness hints before save or test actions.
  • Test gateway config is available in the provider editor to validate the stored Stripe/PayPal setup before going live.
  • Admin-only test payment mode remains available for controlled internal testing workflows.
  • Stripe webhook setup for Club Membership payments is covered in Section 14, Payment Gateways.

Messages and Custom Field Tags

  • Message templates can include HTML for email and notification formatting.
  • Available tags are surfaced from custom fields so you can insert member data directly into message content and subjects.
  • Use the tag chips in the Message editor to insert placeholders such as custom field keys into the template body.
Note: Subscription Group controls are shown only when the selected plan supports more than one group member.
Note: Messages templates are edited as records rather than created from scratch, matching the Adelaide Rotary Membership Component catalog-style workflow.

Safety and Data Protection

  • Destructive row-menu actions require confirmation dialogs before delete/remove operations complete.
  • Membership categories, plans, subscriptions, and admin assignments follow club-scoped permission checks.
  • Membership screens now keep the drawer focused on the current section when reopened, which makes navigation faster on mobile.

13. Event Booking New

Event Booking helps you discover events, register quickly, and keep event activity connected to your social feed and group workflows.

Commercial model: Event Booking proceeds are collected directly into the configured club, provider, or organizer Stripe/PayPal account.

Discovering and Opening Events

  • Browse public events from the Event Booking discovery screens.
  • Open event details from both Event Booking cards and Home Feed event cards.
  • Use the event actions menu to open details, add the event to your calendar, or share the event.

Registering for an Event

  • Tap Register on an event card in Event Booking or Home Feed.
  • For free events, registration completes immediately in-app.
  • For paid events, GarageMaster opens the hosted checkout flow and returns you after completion or cancellation.
  • Registration status updates after payment confirmation and webhook verification.

Event Setup Fee for New Event Creation

  • New event creation can require an app-level setup fee before the event can publish.
  • When setup fee checkout starts, the event remains unpublished until payment is finalized.
  • Admins can retry setup fee checkout from the event row menu using Pay Setup Fee.

Admin configuration: Open Admin > Payments to set setup fee amount/currency and choose payment owner mode:

  • Current admin account – uses Event Booking gateway settings stored in that admin user account.
  • Delegated user account – routes setup fee collection through a nominated user account that already has gateway settings.

Payment Methods and Checkout

  • Paid events can use Stripe, PayPal, or both when enabled for the event owner profile.
  • If both gateways are available, you can choose the payment method before checkout starts.
  • Event proceeds are routed directly to the configured event payment owner account.
  • User-owned event profiles can configure private Stripe/PayPal credentials in Edit Profile.
  • Club/provider-owned event profiles use gateway settings managed in provider editing workflows.
  • Stripe webhook setup for paid event registrations is covered in Section 14, Payment Gateways.

Calendar and Sharing Actions

  • Add to Calendar creates a device calendar entry with event date and location details.
• Share lets you send event details through your device sharing options.
  • These actions are available from both discovery and feed event cards for consistent behavior.

EB Registrants Status Actions (Admin)

  • Registered: sets the registrant status to REGISTERED.
  • Checked In: sets status to CHECKED_IN and records a server check-in timestamp.
  • No Show: sets status to NO_SHOW.
  • Cancelled: sets status to CANCELLED.
  • Refunded: manual status used after a refund is completed in the Stripe/PayPal portal; sets status to REFUNDED.

Count behavior: Event Registrants counts include REGISTERED, CHECKED_IN, and NO_SHOW records that have valid registration payment state. CANCELLED and REFUNDED are excluded.

Important: Changing a registrant status does not process refunds or gateway-side cancellations; refunds are currently processed in Stripe/PayPal portals and then marked as REFUNDED in GarageMaster.

Note: Paid event checkout availability depends on the event owner’s payment-source configuration and gateway readiness.

14. Payment Gateways New

Payment gateways connect GarageMaster checkout flows to the club, provider, or user-owned account that receives the funds. Event Booking and Club Membership payments can use both Stripe and PayPal, depending on which gateways are configured for the payment owner.

Important: GarageMaster does not redirect proceeds to a separate platform wallet; funds are collected directly into the payment owner’s configured Stripe/PayPal account.

Stripe Webhook Setup Guide

Each club, provider, or user-owned event organizer that receives paid registrations or membership payments through Stripe must configure their own Stripe account and webhook signing secret. Stripe webhooks let GarageMaster confirm successful checkout payments and update registrant or membership records automatically.

Where to Start in Stripe

  • Open the Stripe Dashboard for the account that will receive the funds.
  • Choose the correct mode first: Test mode for testing, or Live mode for real payments.
  • Go to Developers > Webhooks.
  • Select Add destination and choose events from Your account.

Required Webhook Event

  • checkout.session.completed
  • This is the key Stripe event GarageMaster uses to confirm a successful checkout and finalize the registration or membership record.

Other Stripe Events You May Also Enable

  • checkout.session.expired
  • payment_intent.succeeded
  • payment_intent.payment_failed

Endpoint URLs

Use case Stripe webhook endpoint URL
Event Booking paid registrations https://australia-southeast1-garagemaster-9da0b.cloudfunctions.net/eventStripeWebhook
Club Membership payments https://australia-southeast1-garagemaster-9da0b.cloudfunctions.net/membershipStripeWebhook

Signing Secret

  • After creating the webhook destination, open it in Stripe.
  • Find Signing secret and choose Reveal.
  • Copy the value beginning with whsec_.
  • Paste that value into the matching GarageMaster gateway settings screen.
Important: Stripe test mode and live mode have separate API keys, webhook destinations, and signing secrets. Make sure the publishable key, secret key, and webhook secret all come from the same Stripe mode.
Note: GarageMaster currently requires checkout.session.completed for live Stripe payment confirmation. The additional events above can remain enabled in Stripe, but they are not currently required by the live GarageMaster backend.

PayPal Setup Guide

Each club, provider, or user-owned event organizer that wants to receive funds through PayPal must connect a valid PayPal Business account, create a Live REST app, and store three values in GarageMaster: the Client ID, the Client Secret, and the Webhook ID.

Before You Start

  • Use a PayPal Business account for the account that will receive the funds.
  • Complete the normal PayPal business profile checks first, including business/contact details if PayPal requests them.
  • Make sure you know whether you are setting up Sandbox or Live credentials. GarageMaster production payments require the Live set.

Create or Open Your PayPal REST App

  • Open the PayPal Developer Dashboard.
  • Go to Apps & Credentials.
  • Choose the correct account and switch to Live if you are preparing real payments.
  • Create a new app if needed, or open the existing app you want GarageMaster to use.
  • Copy the Client ID.
  • Reveal and copy the Secret.

Enter PayPal Credentials in GarageMaster

  • For user-owned Event Booking, open Edit Profile and find the Event Booking payment settings.
  • For club/provider-owned payments, open the relevant provider editing flow and find the payment gateway section.
  • Paste the PayPal Client ID into the PayPal Client ID field.
  • Paste the PayPal Client Secret into the PayPal Client Secret field.
  • Save the settings before running diagnostics.

Create the PayPal Webhook

  • In the PayPal Developer Dashboard, open the same Live app.
  • Find the Webhooks area and choose Add Webhook.
  • Use the correct webhook URL for the payment flow you are enabling.
Use case PayPal webhook endpoint URL
Event Booking paid registrations https://australia-southeast1-garagemaster-9da0b.cloudfunctions.net/eventPayPalWebhook
Club Membership payments https://australia-southeast1-garagemaster-9da0b.cloudfunctions.net/membershipPayPalWebhook

Required Webhook Event

  • Select PAYMENT.CAPTURE.COMPLETED.
  • This is the key PayPal event GarageMaster uses to confirm a successful payment and finalize the registration or membership record.

Other PayPal Events You May Also Enable

  • PAYMENT.CAPTURE.DENIED
  • PAYMENT.CAPTURE.REFUNDED
  • CHECKOUT.ORDER.APPROVED
Note: GarageMaster currently requires PAYMENT.CAPTURE.COMPLETED for live PayPal payment confirmation. The additional events above can remain enabled in PayPal, but they are not currently required by the live GarageMaster backend.

Copy the Webhook ID into GarageMaster

  • After saving the webhook in PayPal, open that webhook record.
  • Copy the Webhook ID.
  • Paste that value into the matching PayPal Webhook ID field in GarageMaster.
  • Save again.

Run the Built-In Diagnostics

  • Use the PayPal validation or test action in the GarageMaster payment editor after saving the Client ID, Client Secret, and Webhook ID.
  • A correct setup should confirm the stored credentials, PayPal OAuth token access, webhook lookup, and subscription to PAYMENT.CAPTURE.COMPLETED.
  • If diagnostics fail, re-check that all three values came from the same PayPal app and the same mode.
Important: PayPal Sandbox and Live apps use different Client IDs, Secrets, and Webhook IDs. Do not mix values between modes.
Important: Do not test a payment by paying with the same PayPal account that is also receiving the funds. PayPal will usually block that flow. Use a different buyer account, or use card checkout/guest checkout when available.
Tip: If a paid Event Booking profile enables both Stripe and PayPal, GarageMaster will prompt the attendee to choose the gateway before checkout starts.

15. Recently Deleted

Deleted build history records are moved to Recently Deleted rather than being immediately removed. This protects you from accidental data loss.

  • Deleted records stay recoverable for 14 days
  • Restore a record with one tap
  • If the record had a future reminder, it is automatically rescheduled on restore
  • After 14 days, records are permanently deleted

16. Subscription Plans

GarageMaster App Plans

Seven-Day Pro Trial New

The native GarageMaster subscription screen can offer a seven-day free trial with the monthly Pro plan when the current Apple App Store or Google Play account is eligible. Trial availability is decided by the active store account and subscription group.

  • The monthly option shows the seven-day trial and the localized price that will renew each month after the trial.
  • If the store reports that the account is ineligible, or eligibility cannot be confirmed, GarageMaster shows the normal paid monthly terms.
  • Selecting the trial does not subscribe you automatically. You must review and explicitly confirm the purchase through the Apple or Google purchase sheet.
  • If you cancel during the trial, renewal is disabled and Pro access normally remains available until the trial expiration shown by the store.
  • If you do not cancel, the subscription automatically renews at the displayed monthly price.
  • Trial eligibility is controlled by the store account and subscription group. GarageMaster cannot grant, repeat, or reset an introductory offer.

Native and RevenueCat-Managed Paywalls

The redesigned native paywall is one of GarageMaster’s production subscription options. It includes plan benefits, eligible trial terms, store-derived pricing, Restore Purchases, Terms, Privacy, and a Decide Later option.

The RevenueCat-managed paywall is available alongside the native paywall during the Build 111 public-distribution rollout. It provides selectable Monthly and Yearly Pro options, localized prices, a Best Value annual option, Restore Purchases, legal links, and a close control. Its presentation can be updated remotely without rebuilding GarageMaster.

Public rollout: Both paywall options use the same approved store products and Pro entitlement. The native paywall remains the fallback if the managed Offering is unavailable or disabled remotely. Build 111 is being observed with real production store accounts so its trial and purchase behavior can be compared with the earlier TestFlight/Sandbox testing.

Purchases, Cancellation and Restore

  • After a successful purchase or restore, Account and paid features should update without requiring an app restart.
  • Use Restore Purchases when reinstalling GarageMaster or signing back into the account associated with an active store subscription.
  • Manage or cancel the subscription through your Apple App Store or Google Play subscription settings.
  • Cancellation stops future renewal but does not normally remove access before the current paid or trial period expires.
  • When the entitlement expires, the account returns to Free limits; existing GarageMaster content is retained.

18. Troubleshooting

I am not receiving reminders

  • Go to phone Settings → Notifications → GarageMaster and ensure all notifications are enabled
  • If Focus or Do Not Disturb is active, allow GarageMaster through
  • Test by setting a reminder a few minutes in the future
  • Open the Alerts screen and use the Notification Health card to re-check permissions

I am not receiving social push notifications

  • Ensure notifications are enabled in phone Settings → Notifications → GarageMaster
  • Sign out and sign back in to refresh your device token
  • Social alerts (friend requests, group invites, messages, promotions, and new posts) also appear in the in-app Alerts screen even if push is disabled

I cannot message or email someone from People

  • For standard users, these actions are available only for connected friends
  • Admin-tier users can use these actions for any user in the People screen
  • For Send Email, make sure a default mail app is installed and configured on your device

I still see an old join request for a deleted group

  • Pull down to refresh the Groups screen after the group is deleted
  • Deleted groups should no longer appear in the Join Requests section
  • If one still appears briefly, reopen the Groups screen so the latest cloud state is reloaded

The Home Feed is empty

  • Join at least one group or add friends — the feed shows records shared by people in your network
  • Ask group members to share records to the group when adding or editing them
  • Pull down to refresh if you just joined a new group

Photos in the feed don’t open

  • Ensure you have an active internet connection — feed photos load from the cloud
  • Tap the thumbnail directly; the full-screen viewer opens with pinch-to-zoom enabled

I cannot export a full PDF

  • Full PDF export requires a Pro or Unlimited subscription
  • Cost summaries in PDF require an Unlimited subscription

The seven-day trial is not shown

  • Apple or Google determines introductory-offer eligibility for the current store account.
  • An account that has already used an introductory offer in the same subscription group may not qualify again, even when a different GarageMaster account is used.
  • Confirm that the device is signed into the intended App Store or Google Play account and that store services are available.
  • If eligibility is unavailable, GarageMaster deliberately shows the normal paid subscription terms rather than promising a trial.

My subscription did not update

  • Open Account and use Restore Purchases while signed into the GarageMaster and store accounts used for the purchase.
  • Check your internet connection and reopen Account to refresh the current entitlement.
  • Cancellation does not remove access immediately; access normally continues until the displayed expiration date.

The Maps section is not visible

  • Route Maps require a Pro, Unlimited, Club, or Dealer subscription
  • Upgrade your plan from Account Settings → Subscription
  • If you have recently upgraded and Maps is still hidden, sign out and sign back in to refresh your entitlements

I cannot attach a map to a record

  • Map attachment is only available for event-type records: Rally, Race, Sprint, Hillclimb, Tour, Club Run, and Cruise
  • Ensure you have at least one saved map in your Maps list before editing the record
  • A Pro or higher subscription is required to create maps

The map navigation action did not open the app

  • For Open in Google Maps, ensure Google Maps is installed on your device
  • For Open in Waze, ensure Waze is installed on your device
  • If neither is installed, use Follow in GarageMaster for in-app route following

Google or Apple sign-in is not working

  • Check your network connection
  • Try signing in with email as an alternative, then retry social sign-in
  • Verify account permissions on your device

Attachments fail to upload

  • Check your available cloud storage quota in Account Settings
  • Reduce photo file size if possible and retry
